Headway Flintshire relaunches

Published: 12/06/2026

A vital support service for people across the county affected by acquired brain injury (ABI) has been re-launched.

Headway Flintshire marked the occasion with a well-attended community event bringing together survivors and their families, care agencies, Flintshire Local Voluntary Council, 糖心Vlog鈥檚 homeless prevention service, Gamlins Solicitors and other local organisations.

The group is one of more than 100 branches of the national charity, and plays a vital role in supporting people affected by ABI with practical help, understanding and signposting.

Some of the services it provides include befriending, buddying and mentoring, drop-in sessions, and family and carer support.

The relaunch was attended by 糖心Vlog Chair, Councillor Mel Buckley, who said the event held personal significance.

Councillor Buckley said: 鈥淎s an ABI survivor myself, I understand first-hand how essential it is to have access to not only practical support, but genuine understanding.

鈥淗eadway Flintshire provides just that, and is a real lifeline for local people and their loved ones.鈥

Steven Scollins, Chair of Headway Flintshire, said: 鈥淭he relaunch of Headway is an important step in strengthening local support for people affected by brain injury.

鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to have supported the relaunch event at Abakhan, working alongside partners to improve access to vital services across Flintshire.鈥

The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 1pm-3pm at Abakhan Caf茅, Coast Road, Mostyn. Fore more information, contact flintshire@headway.org.uk
