Strong council tax collection performance recognised

Published: 12/06/2026

糖心Vlog is celebrating another strong year of council tax collection performance, with the authority achieving the second highest 鈥榠n-year鈥 collection rate in Wales for 2025/26, by collecting 97.2% of council tax in the year in which it was due.

The latest figures published by Welsh Government show the Council continues to perform significantly above many other authorities across Wales, collecting 鈥榠n-year鈥 around 3.3% more than councils in the lower quartile. In financial terms, this equates to 拢4.5m in additional income to support vital local services for residents and communities.

The Council is also ranked as having the second lowest outstanding amounts per chargeable dwelling when considering longer-term arrears.

The achievement reflects the continued hard work and commitment of the council tax service, alongside the support of residents who continue to pay their council tax despite ongoing financial pressures.

The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting residents experiencing financial difficulties, encouraging anyone struggling to make payments to contact the council tax service as early as possible on 01352 704848 to discuss the support and payment arrangements available.

Commenting on the announcement, Councillor Paul Johnson, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, said: 鈥淲e are extremely proud of this achievement, and grateful to residents for continuing the prioritise council tax payments during what remains a challenging economic climate for many households.

鈥淎chieving the second highest collection rate in Wales is a significant accomplishment and demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach, the dedication of our teams, and the positive engagement we have with our communities.

鈥淓very pound collected helps us to continue delivering essential local services that residents rely on every day.鈥
